We sell the Strida folding bicycles. We think this is the one of the best choices for when you need something convenient and portable for many short trips. The Strida 3.2 is an older model only available in black and white. The Strida 5.0 has an improved braking system and comes in many colors. Otherwise the two bikes are very similar.

The Strida excels for commuting. You can fold it in a few seconds and easily take it on a train or bus. Unlike other bikes, you can wheel it when it is folded. The chain is greaseless so you don't have to worry about it coming into contact with clothing or other items.

The Strida is probably the simplest folding bike. It has less parts, making it more reliable. 

If you're not primarily concerned with convenience and many short trips, you might want to look at one of the many other fine folding bikes out there that are more similar to regular bikes once they have been unfolded. For example, if you're going to take a trip to Bermuda and want to cycle around the island, something like the Xootr or Citizen Bike might be better. In that case you're going to be spending very little time setting up and will be spending most of your time cycling, so you'll probably want something that has standard sized wheels and so on. The Xootr and Citizen are more suitable for long bike rides since they have gears (the Strida does not) and larger wheels that go faster than the Strida's wheels. The Xootr is more expensive than the Citizen, but it is much lighter.

If you have the money, take a look also at the Brompton . The Brompton bike folds up the smallest of any fully functional bike. The Brompton is expensive, but highly convenient and functional. The Strida is simpler than the Bromptom and can be wheeled along when folded.

We like to find and promote green products that are efficient and useful. The Strida folding bikes have not gotten the attention in the US that we think they deserve.

What is your return policy?

You can return your Strida any time up to 7 days after receiving it for a full refund - see the Shipping and Returns page for more information. We find that returns are almost always to do with size issues. The Strida is one size, although the seat height can be adjusted. If you are more than 6'3'' in height, the Strida will feel too small. If you are less than 5'4'', you'll find it too large. 

If you have problems with the bike after 7 days, you can return it directly to the US distributor for repair. The bike carries a lifetime warranty to the original owner. 

To prevent abuse of this policy and keep our prices low, we do charge for shipping both ways for returns.

What kind of warranty does myfoldingbikes.com offer?

myfoldingbikes.com warrants each new Strida bicycle frame against defects in workmanship and materials for the lifetime of the original owner. We likewise warrant all original components for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty is expressly limited to the repair or replacement of a defective frame or defective part and is the sole remedy of the warranty.

This warranty applies only to the original owner and is not transferable. Claims under this warranty must be made directly to myfoldingbikes.com, and will only be valid for the original purchaser as recorded on this site. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, improper assembly or follow-up maintenance, or installation of parts or accessories not originally intended or compatible with the bicycle as sold.

The warranty does not apply to damage or failure due to accident, misuse, abuse, or neglect. Modification of the frame or components shall void this warranty. Areaware shall not be responsible for incidental or consequential damages. Any labor charges associated with parts changeovers are not covered by the warranty. This warranty gives the consumer specific legal rights, and those rights may vary from place to place.

Is the Strida available in different sizes?

There is only one Strida because the seat height adjusts easily up and down the stem. Depending upon your inseam and weight, the minimum height can be lower. leg extension will depend upon the rider's inseam. On average, our strida is best suited for riders less than 225 pounds and between 5 feet 4 and 6 feet 3 inches tall.

Won't a single speed make me feel like a snail, especially on hills?

Not at all, unless all you do is climb steep hills. the Strida travels easily across short distances at an average speed of 10-12 mph (15-20 kph).

As Paul Taylor, of the Financial Times, observed about the Strida:

"It is quite easy to ride once you get going. Gears would help on hills, but I did not find their absence as much of a handicap as I had expected."
